Find the psychiatrist that best suits your needs.
Every Wave clinician is a board-certified psychiatrist with training from leading institutions including UCLA. Our team brings specialized expertise across a range of conditions and populations — from intensive psychotherapy, women's mental health and perinatal psychiatry to ADHD, trauma, and psychedelic-assisted therapy. Unlike many practices in Los Angeles, we do not employ nurse practitioners or physician assistants — all care is physician-led.
Our team
Hee-Sang “Harrison” Lyu, MD
Dr. Lyu is a co-founder of Wave Psychiatric Group and one of a small number of psychiatrists in Los Angeles who provides both medication management and advanced psychotherapy within the same clinical relationship. He completed his psychiatry residency at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric (Semel) Institute, where he served as Chief Resident of Inpatient Psychiatric Services. His primary therapeutic approaches are ISTDP, psychoanalytic psychotherapy, and Internal Family Systems. He has additional training in CBT, IPT, MBT, ART, and psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy. Dr. Lyu has particular clinical interest in Asian-American mental health and transition-age young adults, and maintains an appointment as Volunteer Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at UCLA. He speaks English and Korean.
Brandon D. Schneider, MD

He completed his psychiatry residency at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric (Semel) Institute, where he served as Chief Resident of both Psychotherapy Education and the Addiction Medicine Clinic. Taylor Smyth, MD
Dr. Smyth completed his psychiatry residency at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric (Semel) Institute, where he served as Chief Resident for Psychotherapy and completed both a Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Concentration. He provides medication management and psychotherapy for mood and anxiety disorders, ADHD, insomnia, grief, trauma, attachment difficulties, and relationship problems. Dr. Smyth brings a relational, curiosity-driven approach to his work, grounded in the belief that psychiatric treatment should account for the full meaning of symptoms within the context of a patient's life.
Shawna Chan, MD
Dr. Chan completed her psychiatry residency at the UCLA Neuropsychiatric (Semel) Institute, where she served as Program Chief Resident and completed the Clinician Educator Concentration. Her clinical interests center on reproductive psychiatry — including PMDD and perinatal mental health — alongside Asian-American mental health, trauma, mood, anxiety, and psychotic disorders. She is currently enrolled in the Adult Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Program at the New Center for Psychoanalysis and is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at USC, where she provides mental health services to undergraduate and graduate students. Dr. Chan brings a warm, collaborative approach that integrates medication, psychotherapy, and lifestyle factors into individualized care.
